GALLERY WALLS
Gallery walls have become so popular that they now account for about a third of my work. Many gallery walls can be designed and installed in only one hour. Those tend to have the following characteristics:
- Up to 7 pieces
- No dimension larger than 24″ (2 ft.)
- All in good condition, including the hanging hardware on the back
- Installing on a wall that’s easy to access and work on (no ladder work, no furniture to be moved, and not over stairs)
- Installing on drywall. Walls made of lath and plaster, concrete, brick, or other difficult material usually take longer.
- Pieces that do not have to precisely align with each other or with other items. Grids and patterns take longer



Some take longer (and some much longer) to design and/or install. Often these are because of:
- Stairs, particularly when pieces are going high above stairs
- A large number of pieces
- Larger pieces
- When ladder work is involved
- Other factors which are discussed here
